Arrived in Nairobi at 9pm last night, but by the time we got through the airport, collected our bags, exchanged our money and got driven to the hotel it was nearly 11pm so we didn't see much of the hotel.
We were told that we were going to be picked up at 8:30am so we were up at 6:45 so that we had time to get ready and have some breakfast which was 4:45am back home and boy did it feel like it! Whilst getting ready we found out we had forgotten something......the toothpaste! Luckily we we able to get some from the shop at the hotel.
From the hotel in Nairobi we drove through some towns and villages to get to Nunyuki. It was interesting to see people going about their daily business, some were in their Sunday best, where others were walking there cattle along the side of the road - very bizarre! It took us nearly 4 hours to get to our lunch stop but it was very nice - it was a trout farm which had a restaurant up a tree! We sat with the other two couples in our group and it was a good opportunity to get to know them a bit better.

After lunch we drove to Buffalo a Springs in Samburu for our first game drive! It didn't start off too well.........5 mins in to the game reserve our van got stuck and he had to call other vans to come and help him! The first van that arrived also got stuck trying to pull our van out, then a second van turned up and managed to pull ours at backwards, and then we were on our way!

The van has a pop up roof which is open for the game drives, and we all stand up with our heads poking out the top, cling on for dear life, whilst trying to spot animals. Our first animal of the day was some antelope, but the suddenly one of our group spotted some giraffes and as we were hurtling towards them, our driver got a call to say there was a cheetah so he went hurtling along at break neck speed and we saw it! It first of all kept running off but then it climbed a tree and we got a really close look at it. After that the animals kept coming, Gravy zebra ( which are rare!), more giraffe, elephants and baboons. Pretty good for our first game drive!

After the game drive we were taken to our first camp. The tents are lovely with a big king size bed, and we have a view over the watering hole where we watched two giraffes whilst sitting on the bed.

Tomorrow game drive is 6:30am so we are getting up at 5:30am (it will feel like 3:30am!)
