Vietnam: Hoi An - Friday 18th April

Today we flew to Hoi An, which is situated in central Vietnam, and is considered the country's most atmospheric and scenic town. The flight took just over an hour and the contrast was amazing, from the hectic streets of Hanoi with all the motorbikes, to the serene and calmness of Hoi An - it is like the polar opposite!

We are staying at a small hotel which has only 12 rooms - well I say rooms but it is more like a villa with a lounge, bedroom, huge bathroom and our own jacuzzi - oh lovely.

Our hotel is on a little island overlooking the river, which is about a 10 min walk in to the main part of town. We arrived in Hoi An around lunchtime so after we had checked in, we went for a walk around the Island - it really is a pretty and scenic place but there is a lot of tourists, and a lot of hawkers hassling you which is a shame. Just walking down the street we were stopped about 6 times to buy things!

It is incredibly hot in Hoi An, and walking around really does take it out of you, especially in the middle of the day, so after lunch and a walk round we went back to our hotel to relax.

This evening we went in to the old town for dinner - it is very picturesque at night with lots of lanterns everywhere.
