This morning we were awoken at 5:15am by some very weird bird noises outside our window. I slept quite well but did wake up in the night thinking it must be time to get up soon and it was only 1:45am!
After breakfast we decided to do the waterfall trail to see a couple of waterfalls on the property - it was quite a steep trail, going down hundreds (and I mean hundreds!) of steps to get to the first waterfall. My poor old knees were really feeling it!

Arriving at the first waterfall |
We then had to walk up a very dusty path, where the earth was moving under your feet as it was so dry, to get to the next waterfall, which is 70ft tall, but it was worth it.
We were not looking forward to the journey back to the hotel as there was so many steps but bizarrely we were quicker going back up and it didn't feel too knackering although we did have stops to 'look for wildlife' (another code word for having a rest!). We didn't see much wildlife apart from insects and lots of butterflies, oh and 1 tiny lizard that Peter nearly stepped on (it soon run off!) but we enjoyed the trek and thought it was quite adventurous for us!

We were hot, sweaty messes when we got back to our villa so we glad to relax on the patio with a cold drink. Because we are high up, looking over the valley, we have a good view of some type of bird of prey gliding over the valley and sometimes they get quite close to our villa.
Is it an eagle? |
After lunch we chilled out and I went and had a 1 hour head massage which was lovely - firstly she covered my hair in some gunk (not its technical name...) and then wrapped my hair up in a towel, then she massaged my neck, shoulders and face. She then went back to my hair and gave me a lovely scalp massage. Right at the end she told me not to use shampoo and I then realised she had run me a shower! I thought it was a bit weird but I did what I was told (don't worry - she was out of the room lol!) and when I touched my hair I could see why - it was thick with goo.The spa is about an 8 min walk from our villa through gardens and woodland so I decided to walk back as it was still light (yesterday they sent a golf buggy to take me back as it was pitch black). It wasn't one of my smartest moves as it was a bit creepy with all the strange noises and I freaked myself out a bit and walked so fast I got back in 4 mins!
We have really enjoyed our stay here - it has been good to have a chilled out start to the holiday, as we are usually tearing about, but we are looking forward to our upcoming adventures!
